As the battle for Drakarra rages, the Vin twins have escaped the capital with the warrior Zara. Zara knows a place of safety, but it will be a long and perilous journey. As darkness falls, the portal lighting the sky stirs the twin's inner conflicts about their Earther-Tassonite heritage. Zara recounts the dramatic events surrounding the portal's appearance. The twins may look like Earthers, but this does not fool the powerful warlock Zulkin. Zulkin seeks the death of all Vins and his spell has them in his sights.
